Philip Snyman Appears For Rugby World Cup Sevens

The tournament will commence from 20th to 22nd July 2018 in San Francisco. Snyman has won three times with the Blitzboks in the World rugby Sevens Series. The final preparations were done by the coach Neil Powell in Stellenbosch for the American showpiece with a training camp. It consisted of 14 players in addition to Snyman. The coach played in the World Cup in the year 2009 and is now set to name 2 reserve players and a 12 man squad by this week before the departure of the team to San Francisco.

Snyman did represent South Africa in Dubai for World Cup 2009 and Moscow, Russia in 2013. South Africa was in the elimination list in the Cup quarter finals for both occasions. Branco du Preez, the squad member of 2013 has been added to the team. Although many experienced players were ruled out due to injuries, but Powell is hopeful as there are many young and smart players who have joined the squad just in time. He said that 28 players were included in the World Series. There are three biggest tournaments being held in a single season, and the only way to succeed is to focus on the welfare and management of players. With the emergence of many competent squads, there is a hope seen by the coach.

The couple of weeks before the commencement of the tournament, the major focus will be on player management. They need to fine tune certain game aspects, but the team is quite happy with the manner in which the races were finished. They played in both finals in Paris and London and also achieved victory in France. The latest news is the movement of base in Johannesburg by the Blitzboks by next week. There will be several training sessions in addition to warm-up matches in opposition to the golden Lions Sevens team. They will be back to Cape Town next week and a final camp will be held in Mossel Bay starting from 7th to 12th July before their departure to USA.
